Though paid well enough I knew I'd never get rich.
My boss said I'd done well up to my twentieth hitch.
But I knew that things could change with the flick of a switch;

I paid my dues on shift and overtime.
The jobs that others wouldn't do were always mine,
But when it came to cutting numbers, I was first in line,
Now I'll have to find another way.

What do I do, now I'm way out of touch?
How can I earn my stay?
